If you dig deep enough you can find reports of anything exploding. Samsung did the right thing and I have no doubt Apple would do the same if there was also an issue. Stop hoping for an issue, relax and enjoy your mobile device.

I don't think this is an iPhone specific issue, just about anything with a rechargeable battery gets hot whilst charging. Falling asleep on a charging phone is just asking for trouble

Unlike you Jack, others are not blinded by a single company so much.
Its well and good applauding a product but your love of Apple is such that it has turned you into a downright troll.

So it's OK for over priced iphones to go up in smoke, irrespective of the quantity discussed. Typical blasé response from a Mac site.
Fanboys would still use them if they were smouldering at the side of their head.

There hasn't been a lot of posting about Apple and certainly not praise while you were off looking for a happy ending.

Any mobile phones would get over-heated while on charge, especially in hot countries e.g. Australia, India, Africa, M. East countries etc. I've known of people stupidly burning their ears with their phone on charge, or their any phones exploding because they left them too long on charge. it's their own fault for not having worked out that the handsets can get too hot while on charge.
This phenomenon is exclusive to the one what Samsung 7 faced. That was happening due to the factory fault.

I work in electronics and design such safety features, Samsung did the right thing in pulling the note 7 as it clearly has had an underlying design fault.

Phones should not 'explode' if left charging. They have or should have protection against over charge and discharge amongst other safety features which should include stopping charge at elevated temperature.

Depends what you mean by incorrect charger, by and large anything that charges using USB will be cross compatible as they all use 5V. The key difference is the output current but even that is fairly interchangeable as the devices (i.e. phone/table etc) charge controller will regulate that, the only time you'll really get into trouble is if you're daft enough to fall asleep on top of a charging phone...

I don't know tbh. Try doing it to find out, I say. If it simply explodes, then you will be simply called more stupid than you actually think you are. You can't possibly sue anyone else but simply yourself; neither the charger maker nor the phone maker.
Moral: Don't even try that.
Note: 'You' means anyone who may experiment and experience the explosion. Not you, Duncan.
