Default Small computer freezes?

Acer AX3960, Intel Core i3, 4GB and 1 TB.

Every so often, while watching stuff or browsing, it freezes, even the cursor won't move. then it makes a sort of "ba-dum" noise and starts again.
Should I be worried?
Is there something I need to do?

Serious replies only please, this is my main home 'puter.

That high-pitched # ba daa # jingle usually occurs when a new email (or other notification) gets pushed. This would tally with the "...every so often..." aspect. So perhaps it's momentarily freezing because of that?

Must be a very poor CPU for it to freeze in that scenario, though.

I would wager just about any computer will occasionally freeze as you've described

Sure. It does happen.

I have one of those relatively 'new' Android boxes (MINIX Neo X7), and pushed mall causes video to momentary pause/lag, sometimes.

Poor RAM more than likely the cause here.

The "ba-dum"noise sounds like a USB device is resetting.

Try unplugging all USB devices apart from your mouse and keyboard, and maybe even try different ones of those if you have any spare.

If it freezes again, try unplugging the mouse/keyboard for a few seconds to see if it wakes up again (after plugging them back in again).

^^^ Oh yes, I forgot that USB devices make that noise when connecting.

For me, I bet it's that.

Ah...that makes sense. the eldest borrowed my usb mouse last week, it's plugged in via a hub. I'll bet it's not secure.
