Default John Lewis 5 year TV warranty - plasma written off

I have a 60" Samsung plasma bought in 2013 from John Lewis with 5 year warranty. Vertical lines resulted in panel replacement a year or so ago. It has happened again and now they cannot get a replacement panel so the repairer has agreed with John Lewis it is to be written off.

The cheapest 60" LED from them is http://www.johnlewis.com/samsung-ue6...wi-fi/p2985465 but I fancy http://www.johnlewis.com/panasonic-v...esign/p2577520 instead and hope to pay the difference and restart a new 5 year warranty because I am upgrading.

Opinions on choice and realism of above suggestion? Don't want to go too much smaller as 60" is about right for 7m viewing distance, room layout just doesn't work being closer except for occasional movie.

Thanks for suggestions. They offered credit for full purchase price as they said that there was no direct equivalent. I thought that was generous. Went for Panasonic 58DX750B. Put £50 in and it resets the 5 year warranty. The plasma I had was cheap and whilst 1080p was pentile and the blacks were not that good and it was very reflective and not very bright. I considered OLED but at £2k for 55" (and then not without issues) considering I don't watch much TV it didn't feel worth it.
