Would've been nice if they provided the actual figures to back it up. The reasoning is hinted at (higher support costs) but they don't go into much detail.

Definitely not the purchase price, longevity and support costs will be the defining factors. Support is why I recommend Apple to friends and family, I don't want to provide it.
