Question iPad 2 and iOS 9

SkyGo no longer works on ios7 and requires a minimum of 8 however I can only update to iOS 9. Is that going to slow my iPad to a crawl? Anyone using 9 on an iPad 2?

I stayed on 7 as the upgrade to 8 at the time was skated for the iPad 2 as it made it horrible to use so I don't want to ruin mine if 9 is even worse!

My old Mum hasn't complained but then she's hardly a power user, Facebook, Email and a few news web sites. I'd be slightly concerned that you'll upgrade and the iPad won't have the power to run the latest SkyGo app, iOS 9 or not.

I'll check the app details in the app store as it would be a bit of a faux pas telling users to upgrade to only then find out the app isn't supported.

I updated a load of apps on my Mums iPad today, it felt really slow, definitely at the end of a very good run.

On ios7 it still runs fine which is why i'm reluctant to change it's OS. Looks like i'll have to stop using the ipad for SkyGo and start using either my android tab or my windows tab/convertible to watch on as it's not worth ruining for one app.

Looks like it won't be long before it goes the way of my ipad 1 and becomes nothing more than a web browser and email client with whatever outdated apps will still run.

Just checked on Android and it will run on the last 7 previous versions of the OS so doesn't look like a support decision from Sky but more like Apple pushing to make users upgrade and drop support for ios7.

There's definitely an element of that, security is high on Apple's list and the iPad 2 has benefitted from the longest support of any mobile device ever. If I had Sky I'd try it for you.

Thanks. All the articles/comments i've read on the web have all said don't do it as the ipad will slow to a crawl so it's staying on ios7.
