Ok have just received my confirmation that BT have done their thing. I have done this "Modem exchange thing". This should arrive in 10 days with the filters. From that point how easy is it to get set up and start etc???

Cheers

Very, plug a filter in between the phone and the phone line, and the modem and the phone line, then plug the modem in and set up the PC. Instructions to set up the modem should come with itand then your away and surfing at 512kbps!

Make sure you unplug any other phone from the other extensions as your modem will not work when you try and connect...

Luke you only have to unplug other phones if you don't have filters on each extensions..

ie 4 phones in the house 4 filters needed..

no welcome page ... if you have MSN as your home page then that will pop up, if you have scoobynet then that will pop up.. etc..

Luke

It is very easy to setup, and fullon is wrong about the phones as long as you have the micro filters.

Setup guides can be downloaded from the pipex website:

I hate been a Computer muppet.....

So does this mean I need to use "Internet explorer or MSN"etc?????

Which is the easiest to use???

All I want is e-mails, send photos etc and"Favourites".
I thought it was like "AOL" etc but faster ..... ie it has its own home page to start from that contains e-mails etc.

This will be fun!!

Question

Probably gonna change from Blueyonder broadband to Pipex when I move.

Can you buy extra filters from them then ? How much are they ?

I find it excellent, nice and fast and had 10 mins downtime since I got it the week after easter. Excellent service. Apparently the problems come when you need to ring support, although they way to cheat that is to ring sales and get them to put you through

The service is great, the Customer Service is pooh.

Ringing Sales to be put through doesn't always work. The bu66ers stick you into the same queue you would be in had you dialled in directly.

I even resorted to email to try and get an answer from technical support - 15 days later and still has no acknowledgement or answer.

Still, Pipex offices are a mere stones throw from where I am sitting, so perhaps I'll go for a stroll and pick up a stone along the way.

Yep, same experience as figment, best time to call is 5pm ish when everybody is on there way home, I think most of their problems are BT related. The services is superb when it works but my exchange is knackerd apparently

Depends how you set it up, mine's been connected for the past 125hrs, because I use a seperate router, but if you just get a standard USB modem, then you have to connect, which takes 5 seconds-ish.

Why do they start to bill you before the can provide the service???
I am finding their tel:support to be terrible. VERY POOR for a large company.
