Default How to stop Windows 8.1 automaticaly updating?

Can anyone run me through it, in very simple terms please? It's using up my limited (In France) internet allowance).

TIA

Type windows update on home page, click windows update settings, and in there there is an option which lets you choose how updates are installed.
Tell it never check for updates.

Not applying updates is a terrible idea.

Windows 10 - personally I found it dog slow.
Had to reinstall wife's laptop with 8.1 because it was so slow and it was a fresh windows 10 install.
Had to reinstall neighbours laptop and an in-laws with 8.1, but they has been upgraded to win10

I understand why people are reluctant to upgrade to Windows 10.

If your hardware is up to the job then go for it. Its an improvement over Windows 7 and 8. Will take you a few days to get used to the different interface, well worth updating.

A more secure and feature rich environment, but do make sure your hardware is capable.

Yeah, understand that.
But from running fine with 8.1, to getting grief because of win 10?
If its that more hungry for resource, then feckin tell us. At least we can be prepared

Thanks. I've put it to let me know but not download or install.

Now I can let it do them all when I'm on unlimited.
