Funnilly enough we're selling stack of MS licencing as everyone rushes to get it done by June to get the 5% discount. The price comparisons are scary. Upgrading now to upgrade advantage saves you about 60% in the first year alone if you do it before the July cut off.

Quite a few big companies are looking at dumping MS due tho thier disgraceful behaviour. Apparently they claimm they are streamlining the licencing shcems to make them easier to understand. You'll still be able to upgrade on boxed product but apparently you cannot upograde licences with boxed product !

I hate Micorsoft so I gave my last PC away and run Macs at home.

Allan,

i must admit - that is one of the reasons that i bought an iMac.

Many years ago, when i worked for Digital Equipment, a software support contract cost around 10% of the purchase price per year, for which you got support and free upgrades.

Microsoft charge the earth for upgrades (especially for the consumer), insist that you do so, and in doing so you need a PC with twice the power to run the next incarnation of "the paperclip".

Viva la revolution (or whatever they say)

For us to be able to upgrade within 2yrs It will cost just short of 1 Million... We see nothing wrong with office 97... so If we think we may want to upg. in next 2 yrs then we need to fork out 1mil.... Or we could go with staroffice and install it on nearly all pcs for circa 30k

What would you do..
