How the hell do i stop the 2nd screen going black when i maximise the main screen

Im reviewing a document on the retina screen and soon as i hit Green button to max it, the 2nd monitor goes black :/ useful NOT

whats the trick and what do i tick

sorted it , settings Mission control. screens have own separate spaces TICK it

I did uptick this because i had menu bar jumping between screens...
