I just use avs video converter.

Select what format, and the save location and tell it what file you want to convert.

Avs4you is really good so is Imtoo video converter.. I think the Imtoo has the edge though as it will do more formats.

If you just want the movies on can you not just install tvmc? Or will it be a non wifi zone you'll be watching them in?

Personally:

Rip movie track from DVD using MakeMKV.
Compress MKV file into tablet friendly size / format using Handbrake.

Ripping the DVDs doesn't take too long (less than 30 mins per film) as all MakeMKV does is take the video/audio off the DVD in it's raw form and puts it in an MKV container file. If you've got plenty of storage on your tablet then you could use the file as is. MXPlayer works well with .mkv

If you want to compress then you can queue up several files in Handbrake to do overnight. Depending on the speed of your PC then you should be able to do 6-8 movies per night.
