Mac OS X Yosemite
Hi
I want to download the software for my gopro camera but need 10.8 or newer but I have 10.6.8.
I see Yosemite is free from Apple, if I download this would that mean I can then download the gopro software?
Thanks

I only need 10.8 for my needs. Is it worth me getting yosemite or just going for 10.8? Will I be able to get 10.8 for free?
Thanks
Thanks

First thing to do is to make sure your machine can run 10.8 (Mountain Lion), 10.9 (Mavericks), or 10.10 (Yosemite).
Pop to the Apple menu, select "About this Mac". There should be a System Report / System Profiler / More Information button. This should launch system profiler. Pop up the info from the first screen, which should be "Hardware Overview", and I'll see what OS versions the machine supports (or you could just download MacTracker and check for yourself, as that's what I'm using).
10.8 was not free from what I recall, perhaps £30?, not sure if you could even get it now, well, not legally. There are likely install images around. 10.9 and 10.10 are free if you're on a system that will allow you to upgrade to it.
You would probably want to check that any other applications you use are supported on newer OS versions. http://roaringapps.com is worth a look as it should tell you what will and won't work on various OS versions.

Thanks, seems like I need to look into it a bit. I'm off on hols tomorrow and so will leave it until I come back.
Cheers
