Default Streaming TV box options?

Fed up with Virgin hiking their prices up so decided to look at these as they seem massively popular.
Seen many options such as Roku,Apple TV,Android etc.
Who is using what and why?

Cheers for any advice help

I like my MINIX NEO X7. Android-based internet (perfect for 'watching' ****)/steaming box.

Loads of support and s/w updates on the Minix forum.

Tip. The latest unofficial KitKat firmware works really well. Outputs 1080p (at 24/25/50/60 Hz), so long as your TV supports it.

Since Mashup went down the android box for tv/movies is a waste of time also if it does work you need a good internet connection so Virgin will come in handy there. I think you cant beat freeview and Netflix plus Lovefilm as each have dufferent programs and films so lots to watch.

There is still lots of stuff that wirks but contant script errors and website down errorw are more of a pain. I have just gone back to downloading all the tv ahows I watch each day and using plex on the android box to watch them. That way I never have any buffering and there is no show I cant download.

For xbmc, genesis add on for all your movies and phoenix add on for all box sets and series. The new version of xbmc is much easier to update and keep current.

Okey dokey
Next question where did you buy them?

Seen plenty on ebay but most of them have negative feedback for broken/non working ones and I really don't want the hassle of returns etc

I got mine off eBay - the particular seller was great. But I hear where you're coming from.

Also, best get an air mouse to go with it - or otherwise you'll be frustrated to **** with the std 'remote'.

This is the bundle I got - and from that particular seller too (and his after-sales eBay Messaging support was spot on - very helpful )...

MINIX NEO X7MINI, QUAD CORE WIFI, BLUETOOTH VoIP+ Rii mini i13 Backlit Keyboard

That remote is a learning one, so you can also use it for the telly/AV amp etc., too.

Search out ebay seller Juggling Frogs, they have their own forum for their boxes.

Currently running Plex and Unsupported App Store on a £15 Now TV box. Roku will do the same. Considering an Android box for the future.
