Interesting article in the Register on how many bugs found in each OS last year, Apples are around 130 whilst Windows is half that.

Surely there is only one version of OSX as everyone is on the same version, as you keep telling us, everyone updates because there's no reason not to and it's so seamless and not fragmented like Windows.

A few problems with that, Jack. Most of the Windows issues will be cross release, so 36 for Windows 8 and 36 for WIndows 8.1 are probaly just 36. Even for the others, there will be few truly independent ones, hence the reason why there is a very small spread across all Windows one.

Even if you discount that, you are happy that MAC OSx and iOS have gone from your utopia of the most secure to having that many vunerabilities? Come on, the quality is slipping, possibly as they have become very popular, the quality control is starting to slip as Apple try to keep updates coming, and hackers are finally starting to show just how un-secure it always was and people are reporting them.

now there's a mental image, somebody sat at a computer running every conceivable version of windows simultaneously. Questions is how long till the machine falls over as they cascade blue screen?

Run your VM on a Mac and at least that will still be standing.

I think you'll find running VMs on Windows is pretty stable and robust too. There're plenty of Windows Servers hosting Hyper-V in small, medium and large enterprise environments.
