Default New TV or new projector?

I have a normal sammy 51" tv and have been thinking of swapping it over for a 65" tv. 4k is looking the way forward? But I also use a projector and my screen is as big as the TV when you walk into currys the huge 4k one.

My screen fills my 8ft bay window but it's only a 720p hd65 optoma with 3dxl. Should I get the better 1080p projector which is under £500 or spend my cash on a big 4k TV? If I bought the big TV I would get rid of my projector completely.

i have both a 50" sammy 3d plasma and the hd65 with 3dxl also. the difference i have is the sammy is in the living room and the projector is in the bedroom roof mounted and with a 90" screen. it seems more of an occasion watching a movie on the projector as we close the curtains and put out the lights etc and i have an av amp with 5.1 surround and a sub woofer and its awsome watching a movie in there. we also love the sammy and its almost as much of an occasion watching that! ive thought about 4k as well but i might hold off another year for one as i dont think the material will appear in abundance for a while. if you got the projector would you stick with the sammy tv?

Yeah I would keep the sammy TV as its my normal tv I watch in my room The room is mine and it's my gaming room as it has all my consoles, media drives and a big sound system

My missus already has her room and the last thing I would do is start moving the pans or messing with the cooker

the thing is if you get a 1080p projector how long will it be before you will still be craving a 4k set? it wont be an upgrade if you see what i mean? it will be from your hd 65 as its 720p but it might not be a big enough leap as 4k will be?

Projector is £499 but it's often on offer for say £399. A 4k TV in 65" is £2700 but the longer I wait the cheaper they get? I can't see the projector getting much cheaper?

There is plenty 4k content to download on the right sites

what are you thinking ? get the projector then wait a while and get a 4k set? sounds like a plan. sell the hd65 and put the rest toward a 1080p one

I have tried that but unless you sell the projector for nothing no one is interested. The 720 looks good but it's just not good enough for me so it has to be either 1080p or 65" TV?
