Home VPN

Home VPN
Don't really want to leave a machine running at home but sometimes I might want to remote in to the network to make some changes or check things. So...
Just getting upgraded to "SuperFast" Broadband, which means there is a SF Router connected to the supplied ADSL wifi router. Not particularly wanting to change that router (which doesn't offer VPN) but want to get a VPN box of some description that I can NAT to.
Any recommendations? Cost effective would be good.

If you don't have any PCs switched on all the time what is it that you'd want to change when connecting in via VPN? Just the network config?
Do either of the routers offer access to the web interface remotely? Would that be enough?
I've used the Netgear FVS range of VPN router before for this kind of thing but they're not exactly easy to setup.

You have a couple of options:
> Software like Teamviewer (100% Free) Logmein (charge now )
> Setup remote access on your router so you can remote manage from there, and setup a port forward to your PC and enable remote desktop
or if your talking things like VPN to network drives etc, you can do the same thing and forward a port so you can access it externally
all of the options above are free

nasty things those Netgear VPN routers, constantly drop out and require rebooting to reconnect - when i took control of a companies IT this was one of the main problems across 30 sites, i removed that aweful system
