Default External HDrives?

Can anyone recommend a portable hard drive that I could use? Not much idea about the various makes and models. Hopefully some good deals to be had this weekend?

Thanks for amy suggestions.

I bought a 1TB one from Argos a couple of months ago - think it was a Toshiba one and it's brilliant, small, lightweight and powered solely by the usb port which I think is USB 3.0 as it's got a pretty quick data transfer rate. IIRC it was about £50-£60.

I just bought a WD my passport ultra 1tb drive from currys for £55, it backs up to your dropbox account and is quite small, but if I were to buy another drive I would look into getting a sandisk connect wireless media drive. They are 64gb and can take up to a 128gb sd card and connect thru its own net work to laptops, ipads and android devices

Went for WD 1tb in the end, there was an offer from Currys this weekend gone, 55 for the drive and soft case. Seems to do the job.

If available use USB3 rather than USB2
Also aim for solidstate if you can.
