Just built, ej257 Hawk short engine, this was not a problem with pistons but a p/x taken for a CDB upgrade. The engine had done 40K with full history. It has been stripped cleaned, inspected and re-built with a set of 8.5:1 Mahle 4032 pistons, original rods, new acl main and big end bearings, new 11mm oil pump and front and rear crank seals.

What bar (or psi), and power goal, would you be able to run on this built 2.5 motor? The 'max' c.450-70 @ 1.6/7bar (or is it 1.7/8?), I'm guessing. No?

There are many things to take into account, not just boost, compression ratio plays a biy role in the strength of the 2.5 block. As a general rule at 8.5:1 450bhpis a safe setup. Plenty of people run more but thats what most regard as safe.
What sort of deal did you have in mind for the px ? Pm me the details please
Just let me know what you have to p/x for example if it's a 2.5 with piston issues I'd allow £500 if it's got a damaged crank £250, same for a 2.0 scdb, less for open deck engines though.
