I'd look at buying one if it wasn't for the fuel consumption. Worse than the scoobs. 16mpg when plodding, 9mpg when pushing on

It a Holden Commadore SS. Basically a Monaro, just the proper version not the Pauxhall version.

Yeah I would have thought so, maybe to much direct sun light and no loving care

Cheers for the comments.

It happens due to the paint being unprotected and the atmosphere oxydising the top layer. It only tends to happen on single stage paints and most commonly red because of the pigments used in the maufacturing process. A good clean, clay and correction followed up by some good protective lap with uv protection will see it staying red.

Products used were

megs hyper wash,
gloss it mild clay with megs last touch as lube
menzerna rd3.02
gloss it orange pad
menzerna pf85
gloss it white pad
megs show car glaze
lake & country glazing pad
mothers reflections advanced top coat.

Default MLR

Matt,
we attempted to clean the MLR car today, and it's paint (black) is every bit as bad as this was.
Could you suggest a polish/cutting compound that will make it bright and shiny. Easy of use and speed are the important factors. If needing machine polishing, would you know anywhere local I could get my hands on one?
Will prob try to do this during the week.
Cheers

You're welcome to borrow my DA Neil and just replace any pads. Unless you're planning on using it on your own cars in future? Polished Bliss can deliver out quickly if the items are in stock. My DA is the Kestral and very good vfm.

Polish wise you'll probably want something quite tough. The Menzerna RD3.02 is what was used above and will do the job. Alternatively Poorboys SSS 2.5 would most likely do the job. Pad wise again the same as above.

If you wanted to work by hand the menz rd3.02 will do the job. Just buy a German applicator pad to work it with. A good claying will help before polishing.

As it's likely to get a bit from the MSOC you could use the following method:

Jetwash,
Wash 1bm,
Dry,
Clay drying as go,
Polish,
Wax.

Should only take a couple of hours.
