Default What to use to polish black trim?

Hi

Can anyone recommend any decent products to clean and polish the black (unpainted) plastic trim parts on my car please?

I mean bits like the front splitter, rear upper spoiler, trim around the windows, mudflaps, etc.

I'd like them as shiny as the rest of the car!

Cheers

clean as normal then get some baby oil on a cloth and go over it. seriously shiny long lasting cheap way of doing it ps i dont mean lots of it so it looks sticky the tiniest bit will do! im a valeter by the way and have used this on my own car and found it better than back to black etc!!

A mate of mine always uses a bit of WD40 spray onto a soft cloth then just wipe the cloth over the black bits.

I would have thought that a solvent based formulation would have been better. I don't want to leave an oily smear on everything......

Meguiars All Season dressing is excellent and something that gets used on a daily basis in our studio: Meguiar's All Season Dressing | Meguiar's Car Care & Detailing Products

If you want something in a smaller quantity and slightly cheaper then the Raceglaze Trim Dressing is also very good: Raceglaze Colour Enhance Trim Dressing | Raceglaze Car Care & Detailing Products

303 Aerospace is more suited to interiors and engine bays if I'm honest as durability isn't great when it starts to get wet.

The key to making trim dressings work best is to thoroughly degrease the trim then buff the dressing off after 15/20 mins to avoid streaking when it gets wet

Personally, I wouldnt go applying WD40 to my trim...

Thanks Clark.

I don't think I really need 5 litres of the Meguiars so I might go for the Raceglaze. Is this OK for both the hard surfaces of the splitter/spoiler as well as the softer window trim?

The splitter's fine but do your window rubbers etc really need treated? If they dont need treated then dont as you'll find they'll forever need treating. I use Werkstat Acrylic Jett on all my exterior trim on my Impreza as this doesnt change the appearance at all but it keeps them protected and they bead like the paintwork

If they are faded and need treating then yes you'll be absolutely fine, just make sure you keep it off the glass etc and give it all a final buff off at the end

No, the car is only 2 years old so the window trim is fine. I just wondered if there was anything I should use to protect/shine them.

I have some of the Werkstat Acrylic Jett as it was in the kit I got from you - I'll give that a go tomorrow and see how it goes.

Cheers
