After denibbing and coarser grades of flatting back, 2000 grit Mirka Abralon Discs or equivalent by machine followed by 4000 grit Mirka Abralon Discs or equivalent by machine should produce a near perfect orange peel free matt finish. I'd then hit it with Meguiar's #105 using a fast cut foam pad to gloss it back up and remove any lingering sanding marks, followed by Meguiar's #205 on a polishing pad to refine the finish and remove any holograms. It will take time, but the result will be worth it. Finally, the Werkstat Acrylic Kit would be the perfect way to finish off and protect the finish.
