Default Options for claying lube?

Racking up favours owed to me by family and friends asking for their cars to "look like mine" !! Thing is I seem to be going through an awful lot of Meguiars Quik Detailer during the claying stages as some need a lot of time on them and I want to ensure I keep the clay/bodywork as best lubed as possible.
Is there an alternative cheaper option other than the Megs Quik Detailer ? Something I may be able to make up myself perhaps ??

As above or just mix up some of your car shampoo and water in a spray gun and it works the same

i use megs last touch & can be diluted up to 4:1 so works out very cheap & also smells very nice!
Other way is to treat yourself to some new clay & buy Bilt hamber autoclay, it can be used with just water! (i have some & its very good especially for quantity & price) but i still use a quick spray of megs last touch !
