Question ENGINE BAY CLEANING

I am thinking of giving my engine bay a bit of a clean before the summer comes (if we get one ). Just wondering what is best to use and what do i need to cover up whilst cleaning?
Cheers

Have a read through this:
Car Care Advice - Engine - How to safely clean and protect your engine bay
On a Subaru I'd say the intercooler, alternator and electrics are important to cover over from product/water getting at them.
Don't jet wash on full power to clean off whatever product you decide to use, a hose on light setting should be enough...i.e. don't force water where is shouldn't really go.
Oh, Colzo might post up a pic of his again, work of art !!!

no worry to cover the intercooler. you just have to be carefull. as said no real need to rinse with any pressure if you don't want to. but i would say either spray the alternator with wd40 to repel water or cover it. however i always leave the engine running and i've not had any problems with getting it wet.

product wise i use megs super degreaser cut 4-1 with water. various brushes to aggitate and that's it. once you get the metals clean you may want to protect with blackfire metal sealer. all available from pb

Cheers chaps, can't add much other than to say that my personal choices for the degreaser are either P21S Total Auto Wash or Eimann Fabrik Engine Degreaser, while for dressing I still love 303 Aerospace Protectant, which we now do in a dinky sample size to help you guys save some cash if you won't be using it that often.
