Default The new project

Right so, I had enough with the scoob. All my spending on it trying to make it quicker and handly better was coming between me and the family. So i took all the good bits off and put it up for sale. As most will know there's not much interest for people buying cars at the moment let alone petrol swilling Imprezas. Eventually a guy contacted me and asked if i'd be up for a swap with a 325i convertible. Needless to say i liked the car and thought that it'd be fun for next summer.

I'll have my detailing skills pushed, stretched and tortured on this one. The roof is fairly green with algee and water just sits on it rather than run off and the interior seats need a serious clean and re-colour. The paintwork has some protection but swirly doesn't describe it. This one looks like it's been washed with a brillo pad. The wheels will need to be sent for a refurb too.

Only the 1 pic of it at the moment which is flattering shall we say.

It's a cracking colour. It's been resprayed in a purple that's almost black until the sun hit's it. The resrpay was done properly as well. It looks like it might have been done with a stripped shell.

plan of action is:

Engine bay:

1) spray megs super degreaser cut to 4-1
2) leave to soak for 5 - 10 mins
3) re-apply and aggitate with various brushes
4) rinse with medium pressure on pressure washer
5) re-apply as needed
6) blow off excess water with compressor and air gun
7) run engine to dry off
8) protect plastics and hoses with 303 aeorspace protectant

Wheels & arches:

1) jack the car up and set on 4 axel stands
2) remove wheels
3) power wash arches
4) spray arches with citrus degreaser and leave to soak
5) re-spray and aggitate with brush
6) power rinse
7) re apply as needed
8) power wash wheels
9) spray each wheel with citrus degreaser
10) power rinse
11) re apply as needed
12) final rinse of wheels
13) dry wheels
14) clay bar wheels
15) wash wheels
16) rinse
17) pat dry
18) seal with sveral layers of poorboys wheel sealant
19) dress tyres with poorboys bold n bright
20) once arches dry seal with 303 aerospace protectant

Exterior Body

1) get it power washed down
2) treat with a citrus degreaser
3) power rinse
4) foam
5) Power rinse
6) spray on roof cleaner on and aggitate leave to soak
7) power rinse
8) light foam to rest of car and 2 bm wash
9) power rinse
10) pat dry
11) clay with megs aggresive clay
12) foam
13) power rinse
14) light foam
15) wash 2bm
16) power rinse
17) pat dry
18) inspect the paint
19) take ptg readings every 10 cm horizontally and vertically log on chart
20) starting with finishing pad and menz final finish polish start to correct paint. if not enough move up a pad and polish at a time to find best combo.
21) correct paint as much as possible
22) refinine finish
23) go over paintwork with paint cleaner such as dodo lime prime or zymol hd cleanse
24) apply coat of paint sealant i think poorboys ex-p & leave to cure for a couple of hours
25) remove paint sealer
26) apply first coat of secret wax combo
27) once cured for several hours remove
28) leave overnight and apply second layer
29) leave to cure for several hours
30) remove excess and wipe down with megs last touch
31) clean glass
32) apply rubber protectant to trim

Too tired even just thinking about it to start on what's planned for the interior. Will make this into a little blog so people can see progress. I'd say there's at least a good solid weeks worth of work to be done to bring it up what i'd see as acceptable.

I hope so. value wise as it stands it's about the same as my scoob was up for. so hoping that with some serious detailing and waiting till the warmer / drier weather's back it'll be worth a bit more. but that said it's costing the same on fuel as my 1.4 fiesta family run around and it's only £145 a year on the insurance. so it may end up staying a fair while.

go for it you won't be disappointed. a good mate has one and he offered it to me for £6k the other week. they're going for around £9k - £10k at the moment. i've driven it on several occations and it's by far the best handling car i've ever driven. some people don't like the fact it's a left hooker but get passed that and

my mates one can be seen here : YouTube - Fifth Gear - BMW E30 M3 vs Lancia Delta Integra

yeah rhd are few and far between. for me they take off the true e30 m3 experience as they have to use a longer rack than the left hooker and there are a few other bits that aren't quite up there with the lhd version iirc.

a proper 6 series. great cars. i won a pb show and shine with a 6 series i done. lovely car. tempted to try and swap the 325 cabbie for one at some point.

i had a 535i sport once and the 3.5 engine is so strong. could always put a 3.5 lump in my cabbie lol.

I've started on the roof. god this is going to take some work. when i get a mo i'll put the pics up. even after a good clean it's going to need going over at least 2 or 3 more times. worst bit is getting all the soap out of the fabric roof.

not had any time to attempt anything else on it.
