Default Engine bay cleaning

I know this has probably come up before more then once.

But I need to know, what is the best way to clean the engine bay, as pressure washer is a big no no, is there a brush and a spray i can use. And is there anyway to wash off the cleaning product, thanks.

Its possible to get it really clean by hand without any water, this is what mine looked like a week ago, it looks even better now!

When the engine is cold, spray everywhere with Mr. Muscle kitchen cleaner (citrus one - lemon or orange). Wait 5 minutes and then jet wash off. My S2000 engine bay was sparkling after that!

PS - cover up anything electrical like alternator etc...
