it's more the annoyance of now being out of pocket through loss of earnings for the weekend. I've had to put 2 details off until i sort out another porter cable now.

There was a brand new one on Ebay the other day £115 or offers, and there is an Ebay detailing shop that has them at £95 +£10 post....
It's fecking annoying when things like this happen

yup very annoying. will most likely go for the g220 to replace it with. then i won't need to lug the 110v transformer around. plus the cost difference isn't that bad. should be a little more powerful too so shouldn't take as long to do corrections.
crap news mate, saw your post on DW
Guess the insurance will help pay out for the new G220, though probably your excess is not worth it. Glad the ******* who nicked it have to go and buy the 110v transformer to make it work..numpties

nope excess doesn't really make it worth it. the pc that came round said that they'll probably nick a 110v transformer from somwhere else. he also said "hopefully they'll just cut the 110v plug off and put a normal plug on there and blow themselves up" here's hoping!
Thieving scumbags. When replacing it, the G220 is worth waiting for as it will give you more correction power, but the Makita is worth considering if you have time to put the necessary hours in practicing. You now have a lot of skill with the dual action, so it might be the time to add the rotary to the line up? However, note that you will still need a dual action for some jobs; it isn;t possible to do everything with the rotary, and we still use our G220 on most details for little bits n pieces.
