Default 3rd and final detail - not a scooby though

doing my best not to let all the guys at PB have all the fun, decided to give the sister in laws 2007 Fiat Punto a detail. Strangely for being one year old, needed more work than either scoob. It's just back from the bodyshop after a wee disagreement with a saxo!! wasn't impressed with the work and got her to take it back to repolish and still wasn't happy, so I thought, what the hell, let's give it a go!!

Some before shots -

no alloys!!

Then washed using the 2 bucket method with Megs Nxt car wash, rinsed and then dried with "the absorber" and a Megs waffle weave towel.

The absorber I bought on holday in the States, it's excellent, you put it on water and it soaks it up, can be washed in the washing machine, then folded up and put back in the container still wet and ready for the next time!!

Back to the car - now washed, rinsed and claybar' using a megs bar

Once done I turned my attention to the interior as it was bogging!!!

then cleaned the glass with megs glass cleaner, hoovered out, then did the interior with poorboys so that it looks good and smells lovely!!

Then it was onto the bodywork which was the biggest challenge due to irregular car wash's and the less than perfect finish of the bodywork. To give you an idea of what the bodyshop thought a showroom finish was -

After hitting it with G220 on speed 5 with Menz 106, followed up by Menz final finish, this is what I think the finish should be like -

more scratches

Overall for a 1 year old car, there were a lot of scratches, due in part to her living in an area with lots of kids with bikes and footballs etc and having to park on the street. But after a coupld of hours with the G220 it really startedto look brand new again!! Once polished it was then sealed using blackfire and had blackfire carnauba wax added as a final coat. Then just to do the wheels with Autoglym all wheel cleaner and tyres dressed with Blackfire long last tyre gel, and voila, a much nicer wee car to be proud of -

and now I'm going back to work at my day job for a rest!!!

Mike

You're racking up the brownie points as of late...is it your birthday soon ??
Well done again, good work.
Argh, tell me about poor bodyshop work, told my sister to take her car back after they made a mess of her car recently, paint shade didn't even match the rest of the car, very poor polishing attempt, +more...and the bodyshop agreed when they got it back !!!!!

Tony, think if I got any sort of "special" treat from her, I would first have to pluck a very large knife from my chest, where my Mrs would have inserted it!!!

Guys thanks for the comments, it makes a big difference to have some nice feedback, as I enjoy doing it anyway, to be appreciated is always nice!!!

I'm not take the P*** re: you washing a Fiat.......... but it did remind me of one of the funiest threads I have ever read on the internet

Barryboys.co.uk :: View topic - POTW 16/04/2007 - Guybrush's Jacket Detailing

If yr not a member, can't access it, make the effort to login.

Basically some fool buys a Vauxhall Astra and goes on a great length about waxing it etc, to much p*** taking on various forums.

replicating the hours spent (and money) on waxing an astra, a member on barryboys did the same with his jacket........ read on....... its absolute comedy gold.

Great reflections Mike. When you see the before and after shots its worth the hard work. One happy sister in law, and we all know how important it is to keep the outlaws happy! I'll need to get my finger out, been busy and the weather etc..... Meant to say before thats an impressive array of cleaning products you have, does the good lady have idea of the cost? Thought not.
