Smile Polished Bliss Detailing vs Flakey Civic Sport

A nice, easy job for a change, albeit down in Falkirk! This car belongs to the dad of a member of the Seat Car Club, and one of his 60th birthday presents was a detail by Polished Bliss Detailing. The car is only six months old, but we were told the shine on it was poor, and that it was plagued by contaminants and fine swirls. It did look pretty dull when we first arrived, and a quick look at the paint revealed plenty of tar and fine swirls, so we figured a decent go with tar remover and finishing polish would do the trick (providing there were no harder resprayed areas). A quick go around the car confirmed that only one panel had been resprayed, and in the end the hardness of this wasn't an issue. The process was...

Wash

Foamed with Slick & Suds via the Karcher
Arches treated with Megs Safe Degreaser cut 10:1
Alloys treated with Megs Wheel Brightener cut 4:1
Lower panels treated with Autobrite Tar & Glue Remover
Whole car washed by hand using two buckets/lambswool mitts

Clean

The fingertip test revealed no bonded surface contaminants, so no claying was done (the tar and glue remover did a good job!)

Polish

Blackfire SRC Finishing Polish via PC's using Lake Country green polishing pads, speed 5, moderate pressure
Jeffs Werkstatt Prime Acrylic via PC using Lake Country black glazing pad, speed 1, no pressure

Protect

Optimum Car Wax

Finishing Touches

Alloys were protected with Poorboys Wheel Sealant
Tyres were dressed with Blackfire Long Lasting Tyre Gel
Windows inside and out were cleaned with Megs NXT Glass Cleaner
Exterior trims and front arch liners were treated with 303 Aerospace Protectant
Exhaust tips were polished with Blackfire Fine Cut Metal Polish

No before pics on this one, as the fine swirls were hard to pick up on camera, and to be honest it was an easy job, so no need for it. Here's the afters...
