COVERING ALTERNATOR DURING ENGINE CLEAN
Read most of the posts on Engine Cleaning and agree the Alternator should be covered up, but what happens if your Alternator is covered with grease that you want to get off? Help please.

I've never covered alternators, and not had any problems yet - however, if you are worried I guess the answer is to clean it thoroughly in the normal fashion and then allow it plenty of time for it to dry out (could also dry it with some artificial heat to speed up the process).

you may get problems with the bearing squeaking if you regularly wash an alternator.
once or twice is fine, but 3+ times can start to dry out the bearing which will drive you crackers (mine has been washed plenty and now squeaks like the finest mice )
worth bearing in mind, no pun intended
