tree sap??
I keep finding small hard brown colured dots and spots all over my car. I washed it yesterday but woke up and found those hard spots had returned
I have to use my finger nail to pick them off
Is that hardened tree sap??? or is it from insects??

Fall out, pollen, tree sap or could be worse: a local foundry or plastics factory spitting out all likes of gunk into the air to stick on your lovely smooth paint.
Try Bug and tar remover (or Glue and tar remover). Polish and wax afterwards.
If it's chemical fallout you'll need somthing more aggressive.

Megs Clay bar. Halfrauds £10 or get onto Polished Bliss in the Car Care section. Best £100 I ever spent and others will testify. Look at Silver Scooby Sports Car after claying in Members Gallery.
Coat it with Blackfire Finishing and job done.

Clay bar????
Fair enough lads . .But if its tree sap, which it's quite likely to be, the guy will spend up to 5 hours clay barring it, and the next day it will be back! . .
Mate hard to tell without looking, but by the sounds of it - its more likely tree sap than not . . .I.e - do you park it near to or under a tree??
Anyhow . . Clay bar it for old and deterriorated paint work . . . . .My sincere advise, just give it a wash/wax et'c and cover it up . . . .Nothing to it!
Hope this helps!

i park about 1.5 metres from a massive tree, trust me its massive, so its branches go quite spread out
I think there must be some wind carry from that then
hmmmmm i think the scooby is brigh blue which is why it is easier to notice these things. My cossies was the dark pacifica blue and you couldnt ever see any dirt on that

Don't sweat over it!
That's just life . . .If its not sap, then its going to be bird sh*t . .If its not bird sh*t, then it will be some Burk scuffing your bumper in a parallel parking . . .
We just cant escape these unfortunate eventualities!

It sounds very much like - FLY **** !!
Little b'stards do it to my car every night in the garage around this time every year. Groups of little black dots a couple of mm in diameter.

This may help. If you find bird or fly **** on your car, soak some kitchen towel in lukewarm water and apply over the cr@p, leave for a few minutes then wipe off.

I had a bee crap on my car once, flew over as I was polshing and dumped a load of yellow stuff across the bonnet.
Couldn't be sure if was actually crap, pollen, barf, sweat, or some other glandular secretion, as I did not sample it for lab exmination.

IIRC it's not actually tree sap that covers your car (when parked under a tree) it's aphids, on the leaves, dumping onto your paintwork..! Or so they recon on Gardeners World anyhow..!

Correct, tree sap is virtually clear and hard to spot (pardon the pun), darker deposits are turds of one sort or another. My advice - clay the car, then add protection, and park a bit further away. Most turds (big or small) contain a number of compounds and acids that may etch your clear coat if left in place for any significant amount of time.
