I thought I'd pop into the new forum

I have a MY95 thats always had a faded dash, it should be a dark grey but it has gone to light grey - the door cards are fine since the previous owner had ripped out most of the interior and stored it whilst tracking the car.

Is there any products that can restore it at all? I want it to be a matt finish, I can't stand the shiny gloss look.

Whilst I am here what products are best for white bodywork, bearing in mind I spend all my spare money and time driving the thing rather than polishing it! So it has to be cheap and not require half a dozen stages!

Faded plastic and vinyl is a problem, as the fading reflects the loss of chemical constituents which cannot be replaced. However, Poorboy's do a nifty product called Trim Restorer, which deep cleans and conditions plastic and vinyl. In this case, due to the age of the vehicle, I couldn't guarantee how well the product would work, but it's where I'd start.

As for a time poor man with a white car, I recommend Klasse All In One topped with Optimum Car Wax. The Klasse deep cleans and lays down a tough layer of acrylic protection (only needs to be used twice a year), while the Optimum is a spray wax (spray on, wipe off) that is very easy to apply and which gives great results on white - glossy wet look with good depth in the reflections (simply top up after every other wash - only takes ten minutes to do the whole car).

I had a scratch in my dash where a stereo was removed not too carefully !which they repaired & then painted & you would never know it was there !

no valeting chemical can stop the impreza classic dash from fading

it will need replaced or sprayed as Fulham71 has said

plastic dressings will just make it look like a wet grey dashboard

what i did with my dash was used some satin black paint and a sponge applicator to dab paint into all the cracks, this took about 6 coats and was done over a few weeks while i had a few moments spare at work during the summer.

end of autumn, i removed as much as i could, masked up the rest and dusted some matt black aerosol paint, that i got from my valeting chemical supplier over the entire dash.

leave to fully dry and cure then use a good quality plastic dressing over the top (i use astral vinyl and plastic dressing)
