Default email notification to topic reply SCREWED

What is it with the email "topic reply notifications".

You click the link and it takes you to a page you've already read.
or
worse, takes you to a post PREVIOUS to you entering the thread and posting.

and worst !!! topic reply notification for my own bloody post!!

It used to work great, what have you done to it.
On big threads that are active it can take an age jumping back in to a nondescript page wondering where you left off...
Jumping to the last page doesn't always work if the thread is a busy one !

Please fix it as it's doing my head in.

LOL

ok, we have to look into this. I think this is the same bug which is causing the problems with the jump to last post thing.

We'll get to it, sorry for the hassle in the mean time.

Any progress Webbie? It's a 'mare coming back to a 7 page thread after a few days away and then trying to find out where you left it.

Thx

That's not "screwed". Its normal behavior. The reply system batches emails in groups of something like 50.

The reason for this is that it would be a massive load on the server if it sent an email every time one was required, so it waits until 50 or so are required and sends them in one batch. This takes seconds during the day, but will obviously take a little longer at 1am when the boards are quieter.

I've added the other issues to the list of things to sort out though, as I'm sure its a little irritating to say the least. Sorry guys.

Giving me notifications to posts I've already read and replied to is normal behavior.

No, if that had happened, it wouldn't be normal behavior. But you've misinterpreted what happened. It was coincidence that you received your email a few seconds after you happened to post.

Well whatever, it's still screwed IMO.

(i.e I hadn't posted on that thread before and there were no posts beyond mine when I got a notification.
Especially the fact that within the notification email is the post it is referring to... which was PREVIOUS to mine. I call that... ahh I can't call that what I call that because of the swear filter.
