Yeah I've used them over the years for all sorts of stuff, but never think of them for oil or gen black filters

Have been using Millers CFS oils for a while though so that makes the oil & filter deal even better

I think there was a recall on blue filters and they are manufactured outside of japan (Canada or USA i think). Black ones are better quality.

Not wanting to dig things up, but isn't the valving system different in varying brands?

Always buy genuine ones, and will never have my oil changed somewhere local that charged me rather handsomely for a genuine one, that turned out to not be on inspection at my next oil change.

The K&N are pretty good but I have the OE Black ones via eBay and impartsb46 (International Motors) at a fraction of the Subaru garage price.

Late Mazda RX8 filter from my local Mazda dealer, allegedly they're the same as the old black subaru filters. I've been using them for a few years now!

'allegedly' was used to point someone in the right direction, I assume we're all adults here and are capable of conducting our own research...
