fifth gear harsh under 40mph

any thoughts , ok in all other gears and above 40 in fifth. 2000 turbo,less then 50k miles

Am I being drawn in to a joke post here??

Why are you driving below 40MPH in fifth gear and what do you mean by "harsh". No car would enjoy that.

Big play in bottom end? Lol too high a gear surely, im usually 4th max at that speed ive a 6spd

With respect, who taught you to drive?
Feathering the throttle at 40 in 5th can be ok but any form of acceleration will require a change down.

funnily enough that must have the same gearbox as mine

that noise is probally the engine close to stalling why would you be in 5 your not driving a 1liter 90s fiesta??
