It is always very sad when something like this happens. I also remember Michele from F1.

Just read on Autosport.com that former Ferrari F1 driver (5 time GP winner) and current Audi Sportscar driver Michele Alboreto has been killed testing the Audi Le Mans car in Germany.

Another sad loss to motorsport. Just goes to show that despite every year the cars getting safer you can only do so much to vehicles that travel at 'warp' speeds.

Michele leaves a wife and two duaghters.

 

No way! You're kidding. He was the boy in the mid 80's after Gilles Villeneuve died, and Alboreto took over the hallowed number 27.

Very dissappointed to hear this yesterday, he was a good driver.

Audi have not issued any reason for the crash yet but the press suspect some form of mechanical failure.
