Only 165mph I'm afraid. I'm sure there are people here who've gone a lot faster.

we had Mike R's Cos up to about 170 somewhere between the Nurburgring and home... with a lot more on tap...

but Richard's RS spinning all 4 at 130mph+ just takes the biscuit...

Was a passenger in a Chevron B16 at an indicated 190mph at the Nurburgring in 1970. Fastest I've ever driven was an indicated 183mph on the clock in an Aston Martin V8 in 1973. Since then, never been much above 140mph.

The other day we (some dutch and one belgian 'nuts') did some top-speed measurementson the Autobahn with some quick (tuned) scooby's.

We did it several times in two directions, and we measured REAL kilometers (with stopwatch, time-table and the kilometer-signs along the road).

Two scoob's (one with a VF23-turbo) were special quick, at least 253-254 real km/h in BOTH directions: this is 158-159 'real' miles/hour. The speedo 'say' then around "270" km/h.
One scoob even did several times REAL 260 km/h = 162,5 m/h.

So, it's possible with a scoob!!

Very nice was the moment that a big Alpina-Beamer was coming along (went a bit faster), stopped, wanted us to stop, and wanted to see the car; didn't know the scoob, and couldn't believe that "such a strange thing" was so quick! His eyes became even bigger when the scoob was even faster at the "in-between-speeds" (80-200 km/u) than his big-beamer. But both parties had fun; LOL.

Indicated 148mph in my (unmodded) Terzo. Or thereabouts... I was trying to look at the road (only two lanes) at that speed

Far, far more scary was the indicated 88mph I did in a new Toyota 4Runner on the US freeway a few weeks back. I will NOT buy an SUV for going along motorways!

Wont comment on the speed I have "driven at"

However, I have been a passenger in a Lamborghini Diablo SV with the roof partition off at 168mph. Now, that was proper scary.

An indicated 150mph in my Legacy Turbo a few weeks back, still a bit left as well, but backed off - scared of doing any damage.

Red face

Done 169MPH on the clock at 6900 RPM in my Legacy B4 (For this that don't know that's the twin turbo WRX engined variant of the legacy.) It was still pulling when I decided that was enough - It felt like it could go all the way to the redline at 7500. I reckon the real speed was about 155MPH possibly a little higher.

Funny thing was it was less scary than 100 in my Hillman Hunter (First car 17 years ago) or 145 in a Lotus Elan with the top down. In fact it was as steady as a rock and very quiet with it.

I have had motorbike riders putting their chests on their petrol tanks at over 160 MPH in order to keep with me..... rather them than me .........They are usually quite surprised to see a 4 door family saloon doing those sorts of speeds.

Once had an RS500 Cossie up to 155mph, and that was fast enough for me to require a change of underwear. Only had the scoob up to 140mph on a long uphill stretch (not in the U.K of course)

Fastest driving in car - 155mph for 8-10 miles BMW M3.
Fastest as passenger - about 700 MPH back along the same piece of road, same car, wife driving
Fastest on bike - indicated 180+ MPH (its a bit hard to look down for an exact reading) probably mid 170's - R1. The car felt much scarier than the bike, possibly because normal cruising speed on the bike was 120 - 140.
Thing that felt fastest - 750 HP off shore speed boat - top speed approx 115 NMPH - no speedo. Fillings all fell out at about 70. For those of you who have never been in a quick boat, imagine driving your scoob flat out over speed bumps which are 6 feet apart. Try again with solid suspension. Now you are getting there

No Superbikes eh!! So my 215mph on the clock of a Hayabusa doesn't count then! Boo Hoo! Managed 155mph on the clock of my old STI 5. Eerily quiet at that speed, and indicating just over 7,850 rpm! EEK!
