As above i have been thinking for a while to get another scooby and have my eye on a well kept uk300. What are they like compare to my previous bugeye wrx? The only issue i have is the mileage its done 128k but a full service history and a replacement gearbox and clutch in July 2012

They came with PPP and some cosmetic bits, the end.

 

245bhp nice lights, spoiler, splitter and blue inside. Mine had 117k on it and engine and box where sweet. Still made 239bhp so long as its been looked after, it should be good !!!!

 

I think the UK300 bugs look cracking to be honest! I looked at one before I settled on my current scoob. Lovely motors!

 

I had one, wouldn't have another though.

Over and above a standard BUGEYE Wrx, they have, Gold 18" alloys, Prodrive Lamps, nice Uk300 spoiler, Uk300 plaque, STI style seats in blue suedet, Front splitter, Uk300 wing and boot emblems.

So all cosmetic nice touches, but nothing special enough for the price tag in my opinion they ask for.

Oh and I had a replacement engine and box done as engine failed (previous owner) and box let go at around 340bhp on 80'000. Just unlucky with the box though, previous owner wasn't sympathetic.

Road noise was track tyres

Was all uk300 245hp as the owner say not all were his was 215 and now 255. The car comes with a private plate L30DUK which hes put it as L300Uk dont suppose if anyone know of the car on here. Its number 204/300 hes asking 3800

PPP was a £1600 option on the UK300 - see here: http://uk300register.co.uk/about_the_uk300.php so not all will have it. PPP was officially rated at 241ps, which is more or less 240bhp - see the link to the original brochure on that page. The advert states he's had it mapped to account for the induction kit and exhaust and has a graph showing 255bhp, which sounds about right.

They're a limited edition so will command a higher price than a similar standard WRX, whether or not the extra cost it justified is a question you could ask about a lot of limited edition cars but only you can really decide if its worth it. If you plan to modify the exterior with new wheels or a STI spoiler, you'd be better off with a standard bugeye and saving some cash.

£3800 does seem steep for a nearly 140k mile car, regardless of its limited edition status.

Hi thanks to comfirm that. No I like the originality of the cars so wont be changing anything.

 

Not a lot to be honest with you, I bought the car with issues, suspect bottom end gone somewhere, so I had the bottom end rebuilt with OEM products to curve the cost down and keep it near original. Then once ran in I did the following:

Brand new VF30
STI up,pipe
STI injectors
Green Cotton Filter
STI Intercooler
3 Port Boost Solenoid
3" Decat (can't recall brand)
Mapped by Andrew Carr to around 340bhp

Couple of issues along the way, wrecked the gearbox with a few hard shifts one day, and the NPS are a pain in the **** too when they get old, so this was replaced a few times. The added torque through a standard transmission can cause a few worrying moments.

I don't miss the car, but I wish I just didn't spend so much time and money on a glorified WRX, you live and learn.

If its been looked after, serviced properly and driven sympathetically, probably not that much of an issue. The details in the advert look good, 12 service stamps, cambelt twice and recent new clutch/box suggest an owner who has maintained it properly. The only way to really tell is to go have a look at the car, see how it drives and judge from there. The owner is a Scoobynet member too - gdclay84.

 

Well got a call from the seller yesterday and he said he wasnt happy with the car as apparently the gearbox from 4 to 3rd is making a crunching noise! Ha had the oil changed today and it still there.. so guess he wss honest enough to tell me as my previous wrx did the same thing and ended up wiyh a rebuild and new clutch.

 

One of the advantages of buying from an enthusiast - less likely to get ripped off!
