Ok so I told myself I was NOT going to track my car because I would be defistated if anything happened but im now thinking that there is no point having a car with this spec and not using it to its potential lol

Im just looking for advise as to what else I should do before tracking it?

Full spec is;

Fully rebuilt 2.5l engine
Cosworth pistons, rods, hg and oil pump
Mishimoto rad
Td05-20g running 1.5 bar mapped on vpower
Mapped by andy forrest to approx 370/380
Big injectors, cant remember what ones lol
255lph fuel pump
Fuel pressure reg

Its on standard suspension and gearbox but they feel tight and strong.

Going to upgrade to newage brembos before also.

Anything common for going on the classics? Drive shafts ect?

 

Get the brakes & suspension sorted first, but bare in mind you'll probably kill the five speed when you drive it properly.

 

Yeh going for the brembos with good discs, pads and brake fluid.

Will suspension not be ok?

Im going to take it easy on the box in terms of putting the torque down and changes.

 

Watch for oil surge and fuel surge, to cure oil surge you would need a baffled sump and a swirl pot for fuel surge

 

Ah forgot to say its got a cossy baffle plate fitted aswell.

So would a swirl pot be a must banny?

 

Everyone thinks they need some super-spec. car, just get out there and drive !

I rate it as the number one learning experience behind the wheel of a car, that I own.

Well number two maybe..... ( After tearing round airfield rally stages like Elvington and Leconfield ! ), but that's another story.

Dunx's rules !

1. Don't try to impress anyone else - ever !
2. Keep your own pace and learn what the car is doing.
3. Follow a quick driver and learn where and when to do whatever is needed to get round safely and quickly.
4. Usual checks that the car is safe will suffice.

P.S. I once boiled my brake fluid at Blyton and took a chicane at 80 mph.... the car could do it, it was the drive that didn't think it was possible. Till I had too

P.P.S. I've as much fun on no-name concrete cheap tyres as I have on semi-slick R888's...

P.P.P.S. Swirl pot is useful for a track car, just keep a road car over half full, IMHO. At 6 mpg it's not as easy as it sounds...

 

Thats fair enough bud but I just want to avoid things like banny said oil and fuel surge but I appreciate just getting stuck in, I have been to 3 track days with my glanza but just very cautious with the scoob lol
