Default Help...intermittent power loss turbo 2000

Hoping someone can advise me, recently bought a classic shape impreza the Turbo 2000 (W reg) model. Car is standard (i think lol) and has covered 86,000. Since i bought it approx 3 weeks ago it has suffered from stuttering under acceleration. Only seems to happen when the turbo spools (approx 3000 rpm and after).

Car accelerates quickly then hesitates for a split second accelerates again then hesitates. Right throughout he power range. Happens in all gears but more noticeable in 4th and 5th.

I've had the MAF and knock sensor replaced by Subaru themselves. (Had an idle issue which i suspect the MAF fixed) but this power issue is still there.

Could it be spark plug gap, lambda sensor, throttle sensor?.

The engine check light did come on and went off before i took it to Subaru and this showed a Oxygen sensor fault in the history. But this i understand has not been changed. Could this cause the power issues?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You need to plug into it really it could be anything.

If its logged the lambda before it may well be that has the cat been removed ?

Sounds like the boost solenoid to me, have you got a gauge fitted? Connect the test plugs under the dash and with the ignition on but not running the solenoid will pulse rapidly, pull the hoses off and spray brake cleaner through the pipes and solenoid to remove any oil residue

I had the same problem and turned out to be the coil pack, I took it to a specialist who put one on from one of his cars to try it and it work!!!

Well my intermittent power loss issues are back, Subaru never fixed the issue so I followed Keljon recommendation and this fixed it. I cleaned the boost solenoid and the two connecting pipes. Been working perfectly for over a year until last week, the issues are back. Naturally I did the same, cleaned the boost solenoid and pipes however this time the power loss issues are still there. It's worse than before, I've noticed under gentle acceleration the power delivery is absolutely fine no power loss at all and as soon as I increase the power the power loss issues start, anyone have any ideas. Faulty boost solenoid, coil pack giving up, faulty HT lead while under load, or hole is a hose perhaps?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like a coil pack as they can get weak and the spark gets blown out. check your plugs to make sure the gap is set to 0.7mm anymore than that the spark will blow out causing pants driving
