Blobeye parts and joker Impreza breakers..
Hi,
Before i start is it just me or are some Impreza breakers having a laugh with the prices they offer.
You can buy a avarage Newage STI for £5K but im sure they are trying to get the £30K new price back in parts!!
I know the parts are saught after and engines, gearbox's, Brembo's etc are worth the money they go for on lets say ebay but if you go to a "specialist breaker" the prices are a joke!!
i understand all the main parts going for good money but obscure items just seem to be over priced.
i went to a breaker who wanted £500 for a slam panel, headlight surround, and inner wing....even though the car was smashed to pieces with no roof etc.....talking about getting every drip from a lemon!
any way rant over....
in short im after a blobeye that can be cut, as above im after the front slam panel, headlight bracket/plate/inner wing.
please follow the below link and im after items 7, 11 and 9.
I can get all of these from Subaru for £300ish so surley second hand should be cheaper!?!?
hope someone can help or at least agree on saying breakers should give up at a certain point and stop trying to sell light bulbs for £20!

Tell me about it man! they charge new prices of second hand parts ! i contacted this "specialist breaker" for a set of hawkeye rear lights off a smashed up hawk they wanted £300 plus postage! looked on ebay got them for £60 off a privet dealer
heres a goodone.....
Classic impreza rear door smashed to pieces, no glass as this is also smashed. door card is soaked and beyond repair as its been laying in some yard for 3 years, no door handles as they have been removed also window moter and arms habeen squashed from accident.
now you would think a breaker may give up on this part and just get it weighed in as scrap but nooooo
they want £25 for the window rubber trim bit.....you can get this from Subaru direct for £17....
give it up man......Maybe a fiver but £25?....jokers!!!

Name and shame?
I've had quite a few parts from Motorhog, aka Doncaster Motor Spares, and they were cheap as chips: mkII facelift front bumper for a classic, inc foglights, clear indicators and wedges: £80, sold the foglights on ebay for £40.

Yes, shopping round is a must.
Hi Andy,
Thanks for the offer to check you out, would you have the bits shown in the link above?
I have found a complete cut front end on eBay for good money but shipping is obviously expensive! Also found a separate front slam panel/headlight panel for £150..... Is that a good deal in your eyes.
I'm guessing if you have a chopped up car it's worth it but understand its not worth cutting a good shell.

I dont tend to sell bodyshells once they are dismantled, i prefer to break them completely , it saves them getting into the wrong hands
both the blobs i have in are still on road taxed
therefore I have all the bits you need not a problem,i can do a full front cut (through strut tops) for £140 next day delivery on a pallet is £50
I think this is a decent price as you will end up with All the bits ie bracketry, bolts, clips, bonnet catch extra
cheers,Andy
