Just been quoted £435+vat to do the leading edges on a new STi7 (price includes them travelling from Essex to Swindon).
Anyone used it in the past, if so do the results justify the high cost or are there cheaper alternatives?

It is good. I used the precut armourfend on my old car to protect the headlights and it was great. I think the stuff is literally bullet proof! Not had direct experience of using it on a large scale though.

I've heard about this, passed on the comments, and don't even know what the stuff is!

Originally I thought it was like a spray-on lacquer, but ISTR now it is almost a thin plastic sheeting?

What other alternatives are available? Friend of mine used something Diamond (liquid diamond?) on his bike paintwork when we were at school, type of spray-on stuff. Is this to be used or not touched with deep-sea bargepoles?

Not sure what options are open to me in Portugal, but I'd at least like to learn about the UK ones after my enquiry about new WRX paintwork.

My m8 Scott Davies has Amourfend on his STi and it is indeed good stuff. I will be getting some of that for my STi as soon as I pick it up!!!!!!!

BT52b on here has a contact to get some very similar but much cheaper stuff (ie £150 ish for whole front end if I remember correctly) It looks OK on his MY01 + Exige. Hopefully he'll see this but in the mean time I shall just use the excuse to curse the defunct search facility once more

 

There are a few of us in Scotland who were looking at a group buy on this stuff.

Protecting the frnot end of the car (bumper, grille inserts, headlamps, front wings and bonnet) was going to be about £230+VAT including fitting.

I've got the price list and part numbers for the STi in MS Word format from Armourfend themselves. These is a UK web-site, and the standard WRX is listed, with pictures for all the parts.

Have had Armourfend (www.armourfend.com) on my RB5 since new, not a stone chip in sight and after 3 years my car looks definitely healthier than my unprotected MY96 did at the same age!
