Hi there, my '93 scooby wrx has a spoiler on the boot which stands about 6" out ( it's quite low profile ).
Does anyone know if it will be possible to put my car in the car wash, or will it damage this small spoiler? I know I should wash it by hand, but I'm one of lifes lazy people!

Thanks in advance for your help,

Cheers,

Philip.

NEVER USE A MECHANICAL CAR WASH

It will leave little scratches all over the paint work, as well as pulling spoilers, wipers, wing mirrors off.

NEVER USE A CAR WASH!!!, the scooby is a delicate object and should be treat like a woman

Anyway, I think that the Jap imports have softer paint work so the car wash could do some damage to the paint work.

Oh dear,
It looks like being a lazy bugger doesn't work all the time!

P.S. I am now standing in the corner as punishment, and will remain there until one of you kind chaps will let me back to sit with the rest of the class!

Put mine through a car wash once, due to wanting it to look sparkling on the wedding pictures

It covered the whole car with very fine little scratches

Hey its 8 years old, stick it through no problem. I had a 5 door with a spoiler at the back and put it through the car wash about 10 times in 2 years. The scratches they talk about go away with a polish. Its only a car !!!

Sshh ! don't tell anyone, but I've taken my MY98 through three times (and different car washes) now.

It's suffered no ill effects. (but I suspect my Silver paint doesn't show up little scratches and things so much as a dark colour would)

Gary

Ps Anyone want to buy my WW kit ? only used once ? I don't think I'm a perfectionist enough for this polishing lark.

Did I say NO ?

How can you put your precious Scooby through a mechanical, paint scrathing monster from hell that's trying to pass itself off as a "car wash". It'll all end in tears trust me.

The wax wizard's always looking for some new business though

Now consider yourself severely repremanded Now off to bed young man without any supper

My UK00 must have been through a mechanical wash more than 20 times now. The rear spoiler's still intact and the body is still covered in paint. You'll do more damage at home with a jet wash.

Which corner do I stand in?

Well, I've never put the blackbeast through a carwash, and due to what most people say I probably never will.

If I'm being lazy then I'll use a garage's jetwash facility, or if I'm being a little less lazy I'll use my Karcher JetWasher at home. If I'm not feeling lazy at all (very very rare ) then I'll hand wash it, using WW products of course and then wax it.

I do prefer doing it by hand (oo-er ) as you get to know about all the dents and scratches (which at the moment is quite a lot ) thus if some git scratches the car then you'll know about it, which for me is difficult as the beast is usually more brown than black, as it is usually covered in mud (office is located on a farm)

Hoppy,

You go and stand in the "I'm a big fat lazy lard ar$e" corner - if you can fit

Gary,

Shame on you.

Camk,

It's only a car !*$%# My god I nearly passed out with that comment

For that blasphemous remark may you be struck down where you stand (or sit) by the almighty power that is our webmaster. And may your wheels turn Gold overnight and henceforth become known as Rice Boy

I'm with Muddy on this one. Washing your car's like making love to a beautiful woman - first get her all wet, caress her body, wipe of any smears and finally polish her off. Then light up a cigarette, stand back and enjoy your handywork.

Swiss Tony couldn't have put it better himself

Stefan
