Default Newbie in need :)

Hello All

Bought my first Subaru yesterday, got a 01' Impreza Sportwagon. Got a couple of questions. Got a very loud groan from o/s poss bearing..Much of a job? Also EML light came on 200yards after leaving from pickup :/ common faults? New to subaru are alot of parts interchangable with them like hubs diffs etc.
Final question Noticed when letting off a at low speeds feels like trans etc underfloor moving backwards and forwards is this normal being a awd or am i looking at box/mounting issue?

Thanks Alot

id take it to a subaru specialist garage and get it checked over bud. i certainly wouldnt be happy with those faults on a car id just bought unless you bought it with the understanding it had these faults. os groaning could be a number of things ie suspension, shafts or bearings. eml light on is never a good sign on a car you just drove away in, im surprised after 200 yards you didnt drive straight back with it. transmission moving under the floor is a new one on me and might suggest gearbox or diff troubles of some kind. id take it back and get your money back and take some one with you who knows subarus for the next one you look at.

Welcome along mate

Sounds like the box mounts are loose for it to be able to move.I would have drove it back n spoke to the dealer unless as already stated you bought the car knowing about the faults

Thanks guys yeh the eml sucks i knew about the poss wheel bearing noise but it was a private sale and wasnt sure of my rights with it so we dealt with it, hopefully maybe a maf or lambda probe for the engine but you never know. Whats the subaru labour rate now in the uk gonna take it to a dealer for a once over i reckon unless someone could recommend a specalist near stockport for me?

Cheers again

Forget the stealers mate. Look in your region mate and you should find someone a bit more local to you as well as decent prices!!
