Hello, i have a 2002 wrx bugeye and new to the site...
Iv had the car two weeks, iv ordered a new de resignated middle, a 100 cell cat downpipe and thinking i might get the up pipe removed also as i dont want to over cook it and break up and hit the turbo to bits..
From what iv read, i need a map with these added mods, its already got a air filter added..
Do i a)need an instant remap, b)have to run the parts in then map??
I dont want to risk damaging the car and the name alan jeffery has come up alongside bob rawle and another i think maybe on this forum?
Im in south petherton, just outside of taunton...any expert advice and who they would recomend i would be most greatful..

Im going to follow your answers as Im in same boat.. Sports down cat, no mid cat and thinking about removing he up-pipe cat.
when i asked I got a mixed bag of answers..
most common answer Iv found was that you run a risk of over boosting (still dont know exactly what hapens in this event or what signs that its happening)
and so need a remap to get the most out of it.

Get a map as soon as possible after fitting the parts, prior to that be careful. I'd definitely get the uppipe done. In the region there are not many fixed site options (I'm down the road near Sparkford, also running a bug. Also six or so years ago these were my exact first steps into bankrupting . . . I mean modding my car). You could get a mobile mapper (loads on here do a search) or travel. Alan is about an hour and a half and I would recommend him.
Without a map there is no point doing the mods. Good luck.

Thanks guys, there's so many options of people to map the car and just reading who has the best results etc, also iv been advised this morning to ideally do the up pipe just incase it does start to break up then bye bye turbo ... Over boost would be the turbo boosting above standard .6 to somthing like 1.5 or whatever and this could cause detonation... Your dead right it's money you will never never get back ...
The very DENSO ECU coupled with 100 cell decat will make a bit more noise, improve spool but aside from that not much will happen. The ECU will simply compensate and go on it's merry way.
The TD04 will not overboost as it's not big enough.......to get the *benefit* from the exhaust you need a good filter and a re-map.
The STi with the bigger VF35 was often not happy with a de-cat and no map but that's chalk and cheese compared to the WRX.
