octane rating

Default octane rating

just read a thread on fuel and ratings and thought foook had car for a week and have used unleaded fuel from morrisons and not sure what octane ive being using not done many miles as walk to work but looks like i should be using 98ron like it says in flap but im sure its 95 ron ive used HELP PLEASE.......

buy a decent octane booster throw that in the tank should be ok

is it ok to use £30 in tank of 95 ron if driven steady ?

Stay off boost or risk destroying your engine. Put octane booster in like millers cv turbo and use v-power or tesco momentum in future.

Bung a bottle of octane booster from halfords in there and take it easy until fill up of Tesco 99 or vpower.

i will drive reall steady till empty then use a 98ron...cheers lads.hope to good will be ok...reading book says can use 95 but reduces power and drivabilty..

Using 95 will cause det on boost and engine going bang.don't bother trying to find 98 just use Tesco momentum 99 or shell v-power.

1. Run the tank down a bit and stick some V-Power in.
2. Take it steady until that's run down a bit and then top up with more of the potent stuff.
3. Nail it.....

I read somewhere (probably here) that it takes 3 tanks of v-power until all the low ron stuff is gone entirely.

It does. I'm certainly not arguing Mattys point as he's a mate on here, Bob Rawle said to me when mapping my Scoob that three full tanks of the good stuff is required to dilute the normal stuff enough to rid the chances of a fubared engine from poor fuel. In that time of three tanks you will be driving like miss daisy too, which on a td04 is fûckin' hard to do

Hi will going to halfords after work In wife's car to add millers cvl 500ml to tank I have bout 20lts in tank and this adds 4numbers to my 95 ron

Probably need 2 bottles of miller cv turbo if he is filling the tank. I think one bottle only does 25 litres?

Don't use CVL too much if your car still has catalytic convertors

I'm only planning on using miller once on wots in tank now bout 20ltrs then shall run her steady till petrol light comes on then shall fill her up with 99ron

Just stick a bottle in and fill with V-Power. Run that to near empty and re-fill with V-Power again.
It'll be fine after that mate.

What model and year car? Is it UK/EU model or a Jap import? modified?

As SOME imprezas can run on 95Ron all day long without any issue..

Well he did say in his first post that is states 98 ron in the filler cap so probably a later uk car.
