Default 1999 Idle Control Valve

Hi All,

Car was cutting out on start up (and at random points over last couple of days) called AA this morning and he cleaned the idle control valve and it seems to be running fine now (went for longish drive and no probs).

1. Should i regularly do this ?

and

2. Should I replace, where can I source ?

Also is this a common thing as im paranoid that it is not the root cause.

All the best,

Jeff

It can get dirty from time to time and need a good clean using carbon cleaner. Rough idle and low or high revs on tick over are the normal signs that icv needs attention.

they are pretty expensive to replace.

This would be better as its a bit more aggresive in removing carbon deposits and tarnish - just keep it away from your paintwork.
