Default Just been pulled for no insurance!!!

Just had a traffic car pull me for no insurance?

Only just taken out a new policy on it on the 4th Feb, So gave him the details and just so happened to have Moleys phone number in my moblie, So i gave him my phone and told him to ring Keith Michaels, Not sure if he spoke to you (Gary) direct but came back and said, Er they seem to have got the last 2 digits transposed 39 instead of 93, So after a 10 min conversation about the car, Which i think he was more interested in, He sent me on my way,

I know its a genuine mistake on the insurance part and not bothered in the slightest as i think the copper just wanted to have a chat and look at the motor, Hopefully its all sorted and my new document is on its way

Ps, Moley, The clue is in the username

i may be in the minority here but im glad the police check cars insurance, tax and mot via anpr and confiscate the cars off the scumbags without any!
if it was a genuine mistake by the police and resolved politely by them as has happened here then i wouldnt mind if it was me.

Nor me. The easier it is for plod to catch uninsured drivers the better imo.

Exactly the same thing happened to me - Gary registered it as an 'N' instead of 'M' reg.

same, if you treat them with respect and reasonably they are always fine with you. Mistakes happen genuinly, but forgive there sceptasism because they get the same answers from those who try it on every day.

problem is if the ins does make a mistake the plod can and will seize your car for no ins, appearently there's no appeal, no compo, if the computer doesn't show your up to date details you'll loose your car..
These days of computer data bases are all well and good but the police treat the anpr as gospel and unless you can prove your ins status by either a paper certificate or can speak to your insurer / broker and convince plod you are insured you could be walking home.

As previously stated, if your all legal you've nothing to worry about !
It's not worth the risk risking it for everybody's sake !

I have no problem the guy was pleasant enough and they are doing what they get paid to do, Its like having your own private secretary making sure all the paperwork is in order

I've heard of the phrase "getting a tug from the filth", but frankly that's taking things too far!

That's great until you get pulled out of call centre hours so there's nobody to ask if you're insured or not! Happened to me, I was really lucky he let me go with a producer so I was able to sort it out, ins co. had got a number wrong over the phone DESPITE me spelling it out perfectly using phonetics and as I hadn't received my documents yet I didn't know. Luckily they sent me out an amended certificate on next day delivery which arrived the same time as the wrong one, so I was within the 7 days to produce my documents.

But the police man did say he could quite happily have seized my vehicle there and then, it was only because I passed the attitude test and everything else checked out he let me go.
