Default blob sti remapped what mpg please

hi

I currently have the ppp fitted on mine and was wondering what the mpg difference is compared to a remapped sti , can you really tell between the two . i now it would use more on boost but i spend most of my time off boost going to work in the week 30-40 limit so would it use less fuel ,just trying to work out if its worth the money or not . any info would be great help thanks

A remap would be better on fuel than the PPP as the car is mapped correctly

What do you mean mapped correctly over and above the PPP?! There is nothing wrong with a PPP map on a Blobeye.

These cars are MAF based and the OP already states he drives off boost... so I very much doubt he will see any difference at all!

i ecspect u wont see no diffrence until u use boost, thats were the diffrence would be.
on boost about 18-20mpg and the normal mpg as standard when driving normal speeds.
i would say its worth doing so u have more power when u need it but depends on what you want.
wats the current power ur running at mo? 265hp or 300ish with ppp ecu upgrade

car is currently running 305ps but i thought the ppp is a rich map so just thought a remap might use less fuel off boost as i'm in a 30 or 40 limit all the time . i'm using a gallon a day doing 18-20 mile round trip.

My PPP is remapped to 340bhp and I use about a gallon on a 25 mile round trip to work. I average 19 - 22 mpg pottering about btw.

The PPP map on the blobeye is OK.

But................
In my opinion power wise, nothing really happens until you reach about 3.6K and then its kind of out of puff approx 5.5K
On the same car remapped, you get full boost approx 2.5K and it continues to pull string until you grab another gear at 6K.
You have bags more torque and generally a much nicer car to drive

Oh, I have no before/after MPG gains or supporting evidence.
I just knew that it "appeared" to be a bit less fuel thirsty during my daily commute after it was remapped.
Andy Forrest did the remap for what its worth

I had mine mapped and around town after was no different to before, in fact overall I think it was a little worse, as someone stated above off boost around town on closed loop won't make any difference unless closed loop fuel targets changed which I dont think anyone would change. If its just economy your after then you will be disappointed with the outlay for no or very little change. If its for performance though then yes would be worth it,

personally if u want to save fuel, then u have the wrong car.
ppp standard map is rubbish on boost compared to a real map
driving off boost will give u no noticable change with either map. u will probably use more fuel with the ppp ecu when on boost as its a limited map, than if u had a proper map.

1.4bar tapering to 1.25 at 7000rpm

Remapped figures averaged about 335 bhp and 330 lb ft

MY03STI ppp remaped to 325 HP and my run to work is 25 mpg, but I do about 60 miles to work, so a 120 round trip.

My 2p worth.

It's going to cost you £500 for a remap.

Most of your driving is off boost.

You will have to do circa 50000 miles and possibly more before you get any return/ saving on the 2/3mpg you may or may not save depending on the way it's mapped which is not usually to be more economic when on boost in fact it will be the reverse.

If your going to mod it and want circa 400bhp for the small amount of on boost driving that you do then mod and map.

If you want to save money and mod then mod and map using 95ron and run circa 20bhp less than you would on SUL.

Alternatively map for SUL and 20% Meth save a little money on fuel but you have spent on the mapping.

As a cost cutting excersise remapping is a non starter, and there is also the risk to the engine if it were to run too lean.

Everyone slates the ppp but one thing is for sure, you won't run lean with it and the torque figures based on seat of the pants dyno after 8yrs in various subarus tells a different story, at least it does on my ppp wrx.
