Default Yesterday I saw something amazing.....

Had to drive the eldest lad to Derby for a review of his operation to repair a scaphoid bone.

On the way, we were running early, intending to eat lunch, but called in at Loughborough University as it's one of his choices to do an engineering degree starting in Sepember, and he'd never been.

We got a brilliant reception and the lass in charge of admissions took time out to give us the full tour of the engineering department, thanks Sherylynn.

They showed us the laser lab: and three photos of human hairs that had been lasered.

The first had a series of neat square holes THROUGH the hair.

The second had been burnt away until it was castellated.

And the third: the third had been formed into the smallest CRANKSHAFT you will probably EVER see.

I was truly blown away by it.

Thanks to all at Loughborough Uni Engineering, Wolfson School.

My best mate was there, 1969-73, four year sandwich course, Mech Eng.

Sadly he died last year, six weeks after his 60th birthday.

I'm just a few miles up the road from Looger-Booger and I swear there are more students in the place than residents.

That I can believe: the university covers more than 1/4 the area of the ENTIRE town.

Plus it's smack in the middle of the triangle bounded by Derby, Leicester and Nottingham, which USED to have a live birth ratio of more than 4:1 girls:boys

Don't know if it still has, but tghere WERE lots of lasses about in Loughborough and Deby

A myth. I live in derby and it's about the same as everywhere else. Unless most of the girls stay at home! Most bars are full of men. Either that or it's gay night every Friday and saturday

That ratio is true.
I live in Nottingham(shire) and always have 4 girlfriends on the go at any one time.

Don't tell the wife, though.

I would have found that all fascinatiing to see. Good of them to be so welcoming.

Will your lad be moving heaven and earth to go there now?
