Don't even ask ;-) I wanted to paint my calipers and took off both wheels so I could paint them both and let them dry. But my brick-ramp system didn't work very well, so all of a sudden the car tipped over to the right.. Nothing happened though, but it was a hell of a job getting it up again ;-) Had to dig down the jack ;-)

I'd be more worried about the sump.My dad always insisted on overkill when jacking up the car and it rubbed off on me-2 axle stands and a trolley jack.Wouldn't even consider the ****ty supplied scissor jacks-an accident waiting to happen.I'd get it checked out by someone who knows to be sure.

I know, I know :-) Actually I think the (very) soft gravel saved me this time. Because all that happened was that the discs digged down. And it didn't happen quickly, it just tipped slowly over.. If I just had some axle stands it wouldn't have happened.. Three bricks on each side on soft gravel is not the way to go ;-)

Anyway; The result of the caliper painting was quite good I think:

Looking good aswell, I'm think of adding white to the subaru-logo later, but I kept it going for 7 hours yesterday and was dead tired. Replaced all pads and *cleaned* the wheels at the same time..

dont use em ever to support a car M8

I used Brake CaliperLaque from Foliatec (www.foliatec.com).. It comes with a cleaner spray, laque and hardener. I'm not sure where you can get them in UK though, but the website might have that information.

It's OZ Superleggera 17x7" with 215x40 Toyo tires.. I'm afraid I don't have any good pictures from the side ;-( I'll try to take some in the near future!

Do you mean the Volkswagen 1303 (The red one?).. Well it's mine ;-) It has a custom built 2.1L engine with a little over 140hp.. That's a lot in a car that was ment to have 50hp! ;-)

If you mean the Audi, well it's just my friends car ;-)

Owww!!

Nice idea to paint the calipers...what paint d'you use?

If you're working on the car, the standard jack's about as much use as condom to the pope....need a trolley jack and two axle stands. If you're doing it on gravel, put a couple of bits of plywood or something underneath to spread the load and keep everything level.

(school of hard knocks...)

Don't feel alone, we have a member of the B4 group who managed to drop his car on his arm (doh! - don't use those scissor jacks in these wobbly isles ).

Glad the damage to your baby was naught.
