Thinking of buying an impreza turbo.
Current insurer wants plenty of my money, so can anyone help with alternative insurers.
Also what do you think a 00 X / W 5dr will cost???

Hi soups and welcome

How old are you?
Do you have any no claims?
Whats your area like?
Who's your current insurer?

There are plenty of knowledgeable people on this board (I'm not one)but they're going to need this kind of info.

Hi, and welcome to the bbs.

Check out the insurance forum, which will give you an accurate guide to the current going rates.

As a guess, depending on age etc 600-1200 quid for a standard car. 800 being the norm.

The following companies are worth a go.

Adrian Flux 01553 777888
Privilege 0113 292 5555
NFU - Karen - 01604 883726
Schofield’s contact Tom (Rum on BBS) RUM has a special P1 owners policy that has proven a good deal in the past(not for std turbo's though )
Crowethorne Insurance 01344 771626
Torview insurance services 0181669888
Bell Direct 0800 140180
Hyperformance 0181 9393944 contacts: Mark or Wilf
Admiral 0800 600800
Footman James 0121 651 6250
Ketih micheals ins plc 0181 288 0081 contact: Jeremy
O.P.I 0870 242 0800
Coversure Ins 01480 412494
J.D.I Insurance 01189 502155
Academy 0800 731 4984
Greenlight 01277 263030

Lately tesco and direct line have proved competative.

Hope this helps

Unhappy

Hi guys'n'gals,
Just to clarify our situation at the moment.

The P1 scheme is up and running really well - it seems that I am the only one that keeps claiming on it.

With regard to cover on other types/models - alas at the moment we tend to struggle, unless your cheapest premium is still over £1000!!!...over £1k I can normally haggle with underwriters to try and compete.

We also HAVE to have one of 4 GPS Tracking Systems fitted! Telematics eGuard, RAC Trackstar 24 Hour Guardian, Tracker Horizon or Nav Trak (just negotiated Nav Trak with the insurers - excellent due to cost!! )

However keep your eyes peeled - we are looking to set up a scheme for other Subarus...hopefully an internet based quote system for standard models...however still being available to quote over the phone for the modified/imported ones..

Sorry I can't be of any more assistance at the moment

Any ideas of decent insurers in Australia?

Coz I have no idea.

I'm currently with RACV and they appalling service and exuberant pricing

Thanks for all this info. Amazed at the amount of help out there !!!
Currently insured with Bell Direct. They are looking for £830. I'm 31, the car will be standard, on a drive (or garaged - depends who gets home first), I have 7 yrs NC, no accidents, and use the car occasionally for work.
Finally has anyone seen a nearly new X or W reg 2000MY 5 dr advertised (Silver / Blue). Tried Subaru, ixm, autotrader, topmarques etc but dealers want near £20k, and there is nothing private with low miles.
